This article will discuss how to assign residents to Medication Carts (Med Carts), as well as how to use Med Carts when passing meds.
If your community has more than one med cart, they will need to be added to ALIS, and then each resident will need to be assigned to each med cart. Contact us for assistance with adding your med carts to ALIS. Alternatively, if you have access to Medication Settings, review the Medications Settings Guide to learn how you can add med carts in ALIS.
Assigning Residents to a Med Cart
Once med carts have been configured in ALIS, it is time to assign each resident to one of the carts. This will allow the med pass team to filter for the specific cart they are working on during their shift.
To assign a resident to a med cart, start on either the Pharmacies or Manage Orders page.
via the Pharmacies page
- Click View All Orders next to the resident.
- In the left hand side of the page, next to the resident's photo, click the Med Cart dropdown and select the appropriate med cart.
- Once you select a cart from the menu, ALIS will automatically save your selection and assign the resident to the cart.
via the Manage Orders page
- On the right hand side of the page, click the Med Cart dropdown and select the appropriate med cart.
- Once you select a cart from the menu, ALIS will automatically save your selection and assign the resident to the cart.
Using Med Carts to Pass Meds
On the Pass Meds page, there is a Med cart filter.
Selecting a carts from the filter will update the list of residents on the page to display only the residents assigned to the selected cart.
- Then on the Pass Meds page for one of the residents, the resident navigation list at the top will also only contain the residents in the selected cart.
- The med cart filter on this page is "sticky", meaning you do not have to return back to Pass Meds page to work on the next resident, you can simply move from resident to resident.
