ALIS Connect is a communication portal designed to keep residents' important contacts informed and engaged. Fully managed by your community, the portal automatically updates health and billing data based on your daily work in ALIS, while integrated chat messaging and social feed features allow your team to actively foster connection through direct communication, photos, and announcements.
About ALIS Connect
ALIS Connect is can be used by your residents and/or resident contacts with
built on four core pillars that provide a complete resident overview for contacts to view and engage with.
Social Platform: Managed by your community administrators, this platform functions similarly to a social media feed to foster engagement. Create posts to share community life through photos, and written announcements. Upload and share digital versions of the monthly Activity Calendar and Menu Calendar.
Connect Messaging: This chat feature facilitates direct communication between community team members and resident contacts. It allows staff with ALIS Connect access to communicate securely and professionally within ALIS.
Clinical Insights: Families can view the ALIS Facesheet details, access the most recent Evaluation and Service Plan, and view an up-to-date list of active medications. This information updates automatically as your clinical team works in ALIS.
Billing Platform: The financial experience is simplified by giving contacts direct access to billing records. They can view invoices, statements, and payment records. Additionally, if your community has the ALIS Pay Payment Gateway enabled, ALIS Connect users can pay resident bills online directly to your community. For more information, refer to the How to pay bills in ALIS Connect (For Families) guide.
Step 1 - Subscribe to ALIS Connect
ALIS Connect is an entitlement-based feature that requires an ALIS team member to enable it before it can be configured for your communities.
For ALIS Billing Users: If your community uses ALIS Billing as part of your subscription, ALIS Connect is included in your subscription at no additional cost.
For Non-ALIS-Billing Users: If you do not use ALIS Billing as part of your subscription but would like to use ALIS Connect, there is a small additional charge to your subscription rate.
To get started, contact your Account Manager or the ALIS Customer Success Team.
Step 2 - Enable ALIS Connect per community
Once the ALIS team has enabled the entitlement, you will need to turn on the feature for specific communities in ALIS Connect Settings.
Navigate to Settings > ALIS Connect.
In the Communities tab, click Enable for any communities for which you want to turn on ALIS Connect.
Use the Manage button to add any additional socials details, enable the Payment Gateway (if applicable). Note that you will need to create user profiles first before being able to manage them from this pane.
For more information on ALIS Connect Settings, refer to this How to configure ALIS Connect Settings guide.
Step 3 - Create User Profiles
User profiles act as permission templates that determine exactly what data a family member can see. You can create as many profiles as necessary to accommodate different types of contact or resident needs (e.g., a "Billing Only" profile for a financial proxy versus a "Full Access" profile for a primary caregiver).
Creating user profiles requires specific security role permissions to configure. Contact your Account Manager or our ALIS Customer Success Team for assistance if needed.
- In ALIS Connect Settings, click on the User Profiles tab.
- Click +Add New User Profile.
- In the Add New User Profile pane that opens to the right, fill out the required details:
- Profile Name: Type the name of the user profile (e.g., "Billing Only Access").
-
Access Level: Determine which user type this profile is for.
- Family - Use this option to create a user profile for resident contacts.
- Resident - Use this option if you plan to give direct ALIS Connect access to any of your residents.
- Access: Use the checkboxes to determine which information will be visible to users assigned to this profile.
-
Email: Based on the access provided to the user, you can select which type of Email Notifications to include. If enabled here, family members (or residents) will receive email notifications when you post new content. These emails prompt them to log in to ALIS Connect to view the update.
Note: Connect users can choose to unsubscribe to these personally, but they can only opt-in to features that you have enabled in this step.
- Communities: Select which communities to apply this user profile to.
- Click Create User Profile to save.
Once you have created User Profiles, you will now be able to give ALIS Connect access to residents or resident contacts. Refer to the next step for instructions.
Step 4 - Grant Connect Access to New Users
You can grant ALIS Connect access to residents and their contacts from two primary locations: the Connect Center (recommended for managing multiple users) or directly from a specific Resident Profile.
Via the Connect Center:
- Navigate to the Connect Center > Access tab.
Click the Manage button on the far right to go to a 'Manage ALIS Connect Access' page for the specific resident. (Note: If you just need to send the registration email to a resident, click the Send Invite button in the Resident Access column.)
On the 'Manage ALIS Connect Access' page, click Send Invite.
-
In the pop-up window, complete the necessary details:
Email: Review or type the recipient's email address. Any email already saved to the contact profile will pre-populate in this field.

Confirmation: Select the checkbox to confirm that this user is authorized to view the resident's sensitive information.

To access the ALIS Connect Center, click on your Dashboard icon or use the Residents dropdown menu.

This tab houses the secure chat interface. Designated staff can view, send, and reply to messages from family members here.

Use this tab to create and edit posts for the social feed. This where you can showcase fun events, daily activities, and this functions like a private social media wall.
You can set posts to be visible to all ALIS Connect users in your community or limit visibility to the contacts of specific residents only.
- Click the Create New Post button.
- On the Create Post page, fill out the post details:
- Event Date: This defaults to today's date. If creating a post for an upcoming event, you may want to choose the specific event date.
- Visible: This determines if the post will be visible to selected users. Most likely, you will leave this toggled to Yes.
- Post: Type your message into this text field.
- Take/Upload Image: Click on this button to choose a photo to include in the post.
-

- Click Create Post at the top of the page to share with users.
View the shared post on the Engagement tab. To edit or delete the post, use the pencil or trash can icons.
Bulletin tab
This tab is where you can upload PDF files of your Menu and Activity Calendars so families always have the latest schedule.
- Click the upload icon (up arrow) to select a menu or calendar PDF from your device.
- When uploading a PDF, you have an optional Expiration Date field. You can always change the expiration if needed.
- Note that if you set the expiration date here, you can also setup ALIS Alerts to not notify you when these documents are 2 days from expiring and/or as soon as they have expired. For more information configuring ALIS Alerts, refer to these Alerts Settings and How to manage ALIS Alerts guides.
- Use the Show All Versions buttons at the bottom of the page to view previous PDF uploads.
Access tab
The Access tab (as mentioned in above Step 4) is where you manage all user permissions. It displays a full list of residents and any associated contacts that you have already provided ALIS Connect access.
To send a registration email to a resident, click the Send Invite button found in the Resident Access column.
To send a registration email to a resident contact, click the Manage button on the far right. This takes you to a 'Manage ALIS Connect Access' page for the specific resident where you can view all contacts to send invites to or further manage individual users' access.
Tip! Verify the delivery status of your invitations by clicking the View Email Statuses button at the top right of the Access tab to navigate to the Email Center.
Tip! Click Export to Excel to download the full list of resident and contact details with ALIS Connect Access.
Reminder: User Profiles (the specific permission sets for Evaluations, Invoices, Medications, etc.) are configured in ALIS Connect Settings.
Audit Tab
The Audit tab provides a comprehensive log of all administrative actions taken within the ALIS Connect Center, allowing you to easily track changes and updates.
ALIS Connect website
Once residents or contacts have registered and logged in to ALIS Connect at alisconnect.com, they will see your community's basic contact details and a Dashboard, or home page.
Their experience is customized based on the specific User Profile you assigned to them.
On the Dashboard, they can click on the Social, Message, Health, or Billing icons (whichever are available to them) to begin viewing resident information on a separate or initiating a chat.
