One option for scheduling recurring vitals checks (e.g., "Daily Blood Pressure") is to add them as Treatment orders. Adding these as Treatment orders ensures they appear on the MAR and in Pass Meds alongside other scheduled medications and tasks.
For more information about the Scheduled Vitals feature which allows you to schedule vitals to record in a centralized location (separate from Pass Meds), refer to this How to use Scheduled Vitals guide.
Schedule Vitals as Treatments
The below steps outline how to add vitals as Treatment orders, which follows the same process for manually creating an order and adding vitals checks to that order. Note that these steps only cover the required fields for adding a Treatment, however it is always recommended to review all fields before creating an order.
- Go to the resident's Manage Orders page, and navigate to the Treatments section of the page. The quickest way to navigate there is to select Treatments from the lefthand menu.
- Click the +Add Treatment button to create the order.
- On the next page, enter the applicable Prescription & Refill Information.
- Add a Treatment Name (i.e., Daily Blood Pressure) and type the Instructions.
- Locate the Check Vitals toggle to Yes.
- In the area that expands below, select the vitals you want to check. Under Scale Type, you have the option to keep "No Range" or set a fixed, minimum, or maximum range.
- In the Scheduling portion of the page, add the Start Date, Interval, and Time as required for this order.
- Click the Create Order button at the bottom right of the page.
Replicate Across Residents (Optional)
Navigate to the Manage Orders page of the resident who already has the correct order on their chart.
Click the Options button to the right of the order.
Click Replicate Across Residents.
A menu will appear allowing you to select who should receive this order. You can select All Residents or mulsti-select a specific group.
Click Replicate Order.
Once completed, the order will appear on the MAR, Physician Orders, and Pass Meds page for all selected residents.
