This feature is currently limited-release only. For more information, please contact your Account Manager.
When your company uses Single Sign-On (SSO), staff usually log in using their corporate credentials. The Login PINs feature allows these SSO users to create a secondary, 6-digit PIN within ALIS. This PIN provides a faster, secure way to verify identity during specific workflows without needing to re-authenticate through the full SSO process every time.
Using PINs in ALIS
Staff Login: Re-entering ALIS after a timeout.
Privacy Screen: Unlocking the screen to resume work.
Drug Count: Verifying "Person 2" (Witness) to confirm drug destructions or submit final Drug Counts.
Enable Login PINs
This feature is an entitlement that applies to the entire company but set up on a per-user basis. To enable Login PINs, you must contact your Account Manager or our ALIS Customer Success Team.
Once this feature is enabled, the next time an SSO user logs in, they will be immediately prompted to the PIN Setup page:
Users must create a unique 6-digit PIN.
Click Submit & Continue to finish logging in.
After this step, users will be able to use their new PIN in applicable locations in ALIS.
Use PIN to unlock Privacy Screen
If the Privacy Screen is activated, the user can simply enter their 6-digit PIN to unlock the screen and resume work, rather than going through the full SSO login process again.
Use PIN for Drug Count
Use your PIN for certain Drug Count workflows that require a second witness ("Person 2") to verify the action, such as when destroying medications or confirming a final count. The "Person 2" will be prompted to enter their Login PIN to digitally sign off on the action.

How to Change or Reset a PIN
For Staff (Self-Service)
Use this method if you know your current PIN and want to change it.
Navigate to My Account (top of any page in ALIS).
Click the Login & Access tab.
Click the Change PIN button.
Enter your Current PIN, then type your New PIN (twice to confirm). For maximum security, make it memorable, unique, and private to only you.
Click Save.
For Administrators (Reset a Staff PIN)
Use this method if a staff member has forgotten their PIN.
Go to the Staff Profile and open the Login & Access section.
Click the Change PIN button.
-
Choose one of the following options:
Automatically: Sends a secure, randomly generated PIN to the staff member via email or text.
Manually: Allows you to type a new PIN for them immediately.
-
Click Submit.
Note: It is strongly encouraged that staff update this temporary PIN to something private and memorable immediately after logging in.
'Switch to ALIS' and PINs
In the Login & Access tab of a Staff Profile, you may see a button labeled Switch to ALIS.
When you click this, the system converts the user from "SSO Login" to a standard "ALIS Login" (Username/Password).
If you switch a user back from a standard ALIS login to SSO, it will force a reset of their PIN.
