This job aide outlines how to record scheduled and PRN (as-needed) care in ALIS. Download this guide and use as quick reference during your Care Tracking 'Go-Live'.
How to Record Scheduled Care
Step 1:
From your Dashboard, click the Care Tracking icon.
Step 2:
The Care Tracking page defaults to the current shift based on the current time. Locate your Care List (you may call this an assignment), and click Record Care.
Step 3:
Use available filters to refine your assignment list as needed. You can also click Print to download a PDF with all assigned tasks within this care list and shift.
Click the Back button at any time to return to the Care Tracking landing page.
Step 4:
Select the appropriate outcome for each care item:
- Completed / Not Completed
- Yes / No
- Custom options (if configured)
Be sure to complete any other required or fields recommended to complete. Once selections are made, click Record Care at the top of the page to save.
Recording PRN Care (from Care Tracking)
You can record PRN (as-needed) care directly within the Care Tracking page.
Step 1:
At the top of your assignment list, click Record PRN Care.
Step 2:
In the pop-up window, enter the required details:
- Resident Name
- Care Item
- Outcome
- Date and Time (update if needed)
Click Done to record your item.
⚠️Important: It is possible you are required to enter more details such as Time Taken and Notes. Confirm with your Community Administrator.
Recording PRN Care (from Dashboard)
If you are not currently in Care Tracking, navigate to the Dashboard, and click the Care Tracking icon.
You will see the same pop-up window that prompts you to enter the PRN item details.
PRN List
After recording PRN care (from either location), a PRN List will appear on the Care Tracking landing page.
This list allows you to:
- Review previously recorded PRN entries.
- Make updates as needed.
Helpful Hints
Add Notes
- If you select Not Completed, Refused, or any exception outcome, it is recommended to document an objective explanation in the Notes field.
- You can use speech-to-text transcription in the Notes field to quickly document details:
- Select the microphone option and begin speaking
- Speak clearly and at a steady pace
- Review and edit the transcribed text before saving, as punctuation may not be captured accurately
Edit or Reset Recorded Care
To edit or reset recorded care:
- Click Show Recorded to view completed entries
- Select Edit to update an entry (including notes)
- Select Reset to remove and re-record the entry entirely
