Use this guide to learn how to record vitals as needed and to schedule recurring vitals checks.
ALIS enables you to record multiple vitals checks for selected residents at any given time and provides an easy method for scheduling vitals checks in advance.
Bulk Record Vitals
From your Dashboard, locate and click on the Bulk Vitals icon.
In the pop-up presented, you have a variety of options for customizing vitals you want to bulk record:
Customize Residents
-
-
-
- The Residents dropdown menu in the top lefthand corner allows you to select specific residents in which you want to record vitals for. You can also use the Search bar to identify residents more quickly, choose to Select All, or individually identify residents within a given Product Type. Use the checkboxes on the left part of the menu to select individuals or groups of residents.
-
-
-
-
- Alternatively, use the Search for Resident text fields in the Resident column of the table. Type a resident's name to search, or use the down arrow to look for a specific resident within the list.
-
- Click on the red Xs to remove a resident or blank field from the list.
- Use the +Add 5 More button to give yourself more rows for adding residents.
-
Customize Vitals
The Vitals to Record menu at the top center will allow you to Select All of the seven possible vitals types, or just the ones you need.
As you select which vitals to record, corresponding text fields will populate next to the residents' names.
-
To record vitals, type the values into the text fields. Note that if you leave any fields blank, ALIS will still allow you to record and save any values that were entered!
- Update the Vitals recorded on date and time fields if needed. If you want to add notes to save with your recorded vitals, click the Show Notes Field checkbox at the top right in order to create rows of text boxes next to each record.
- Click the Record Vitals button to save your entry.
Schedule Recurring Vitals Checks
The best way to schedule vitals checks is to add them as Treatment orders. The below steps outline how to add vitals as Treatment orders, which follows the same process for manually creating an order and adding vitals checks to that order.
- Go to the resident's Manage Orders page, and navigate to the Treatments section of the page. The quickest way to navigate there is to select Treatments from the lefthand menu.
- Click the +Add Treatment button to create the order.
-
-
- On the next page, add a Treatment Name (i.e., Daily Blood Pressure) and type the instructions. Then, move the Check Vitals toggle to Yes.
-
-
-
-
- In the box that expands below, select the vitals you want to check. Under Scale Type, you have the option to keep "No Range" or set a fixed, minimum, or maximum range.
-
- In the Scheduling portion of the page, add the start date, interval, and time as required for this order. Once you finish setting the schedule, click the Create Order button at the bottom right of the page.
-
-
Once the order is created, you can also replicate this treatment to other residents' MARs. To do this, use the Options button to the right of the order and click Replicate Across Residents.
From there, you can choose if you would like this order to appear on the MAR and Pass Meds for all residents or a select group.
This Vitals Check as a Treatment order will display in Pass Meds with other regularly scheduled orders. It will also be reflected on the resident's MAR as well as other reports!
Add Vitals in Observation Notes
We can configure Observation Types to allow for recording vitals when creating an Observation note.
Vitals recorded via an observation will be viewable in the Vital Sign Details and Vital Sign Summary reports.
