We've redesigned the ALIS navigation experience to maximize your workspace and reduce clicks, so you can focus more on resident care and less on searching for tools. With a side-navigation model, ALIS uses the full width of your screen for a cleaner, more intuitive interface that adapts seamlessly from desktop to mobile.

This feature is behind an entitlement that must be enabled by the ALIS team. For assistance, contact your Account Manager or our ALIS Customer Success Team.
More Spacious Workspace
One key benefit of the new layout is the expanded content area. By moving the main menu to a collapsible sidebar, we’ve freed up significant horizontal space. This makes managing complex resident charts, detailed schedules, and large reports much easier.
Updated Homepage
You can now tailor your homepage to match the way you work. Click Customize in the homepage header to enter customize mode, then arrange things to fit your day.
In customize mode, you can:
- Reorder icons and groups: Drag any icon or group into the order that works best for you. Hover and grab the section header to reorganize.
- Rename and create groups: Rename an existing group, or create a brand-new group to organize your icons your way. Click directly into the group name field and begin typing.
- Hide or show icons: Hide the icons you don't use to reduce clutter, and show them again whenever you need them. Click the X on the top left of any tile to hide it from view.
Get to Know the New Layout
Every icon from the legacy homepage is still here, plus some additions.we've just moved a few to streamline common workflows.
The key areas of the layout are:
- Quick actions (top-left): Daily Stand-Up, Calendar, Messages, and Alerts sit across the top for one-click access. (Note: Messages is currently a limited-release feature.)
- Record & Create (far right): These panels are quick buttons for the actions you use most: recording an observation or vital under Record, or adding a new applicant, prospect, or staff member under Create.
New Navigation Sidebar
Our new navigation sidebar moves your main menu items to the left side of the screen. This opens up the center of your page, giving you a much larger workspace for resident charts, schedules, and reports.
Using the Sidebar
The sidebar is your new command center, organized to meet your needs:
Quick Shortcuts: Located along the side panel for quick access to the pages you visit most.
Role-based Visibility: You will only see the products and pages you have permission to access.
The Product Menu: The middle white section contains your main ALIS categories. Click a category to see all the modules inside.
Sidebar Sub-sections
When you open a product category, its sub-sections appear in the sidebar. Two behaviors make it easy to stay oriented:
- The top sub-section opens automatically by default. As soon as you open a category, its first sub-section is expanded for you, so the pages you need most are one click away.
- Multiple sub-sections can stay open at a time. Opening a different sub-section does not collapse the one before it so you can easily find what you need.
Personalize Navigation with "Starred" Items
You can create your own custom menu:
Star your favorites: Hover over any menu item and click the Star icon to add it to your personal "Starred" list.
Organize your way: Use the drag-and-drop icon to reorder your starred items.
Note: Your stars are currently saved to your specific web browser. If you log in from a different computer or clear your browser cache, you may need to re-star your favorites.
Smarter Global Search
The global search bar at the top of the screen returns improved matches on Enhanced ALIS Navigation, so you can find records without exact spelling.
- Forgiving of typos and word order: Search tolerates misspellings and finds records even when you type the words out of order.
- Smarter result ranking: The most relevant record types surface first, in this order: Residents, Contacts, Prospects, Staff, Moved-out Residents, Referral Sources, and Pages.
Consistent Mobile Experience
Taking ALIS on the go? The mobile experience has been updated to match the new desktop look, so you’ll know exactly where to find everything, whether you're at a desk or on a tablet.
Whether you are using a tablet during a hallway check-in or a smartphone for quick updates, the navigation now mirrors the desktop experience. This consistency ensures that you know exactly where your tools are, regardless of the device in your hand.
Other Considerations
Alert Badge Timing: Red notification badges (such as Care Tracking alerts) refresh approximately every 5 minutes. If you complete a task, the number will update during the next refresh cycle rather than instantaneously.
-
Refreshed Headers: You may notice minor visual updates to the headers and footers of your favorite pages; these were designed to complement the new, wide-screen layout.
