This guide outlines how to add Quarantine schedules in ALIS, ensuring staff can effectively track resident isolation and automatically trigger related clinical documentation like Observations or Incident Reports.
Where to add a Quarantine schedule
You can initiate a quarantine schedule from two locations:
Immunizations Center: Use the Resident dropdown menu or the dashboard icon.
Resident Profile: Navigate to the Immunizations and Tests section and select the Quarantine blue bar.
How to add a Quarantine schedule
- Click +Add Schedule.
- In the Schedule Quarantine pane, select the Resident(s).
- Note: If adding from a specific Resident Profile, the name is pre-selected and cannot be edited.
- Verify the Start/End date and Time.
- Select the Reason from the dropdown menu.
- Capture any specific details in the Notes field.
- (Optional): Select checkboxes for Create Observation or Create Incident (see details in the below section).
- Click Submit to save.
Create Observation and Create Incident
When adding or editing a schedule, you can select one or both of the checkboxes in the quarantine scheduling pane to generate secondary documentation.
Create Observation
Automatically generate a new Observation note for the selected resident(s).
Select the Observation Type, Severity, and Keep Active For fields to create the initial note. For more information on these fields, read this Observations Reference Guide.
Once you click Submit, the note is saved to both the Observation Center and the Resident Profile and contains all scheduling details.
Create Incident
Automatically generates a new Incident Report for the selected resident(s).
Select the Type from the dropdown menu. For more information on Incident Types, read this Incidents Reference Guide.
Users that only have the 'Create Incident' permissions will have a Submit button which will keep them on the same page once clicked.

Users with 'Manage Incident' permissions will have a Submit and Go To button which will navigate them directly to the Incident Report details page for immediate documentation.
The generated Incident Report will contain the quarantine schedule details and any notes captured:
Edit, Delete, or End Quarantine
- Edit or Delete (Single Resident): Click the Options button and make a selection in the dropdown menu.
- Bulk Edit or Delete: Use the lefthand checkboxes to select all or specific residents. Then click the Edit or Delete button at the top of the table.
- End Quarantine: Click the Options button > End in the dropdown menu. In the pop-up confirmation window that appears, click End again.
