Configure custom templates for any observation type to improve consistency and guide staff charting. This feature ensures staff capture necessary details efficiently by automatically populating the Observation Summary field with pre-written prompts whenever a templated observation type is selected.
Configure Pre-filled Observation Templates
Observation templates are configured at the company-level in Company Settings or at the community-level in Resident Settings. Only authorized users have access to these settings. Confirm with your company administrator which option is right for your team. For assistance with settings configuration, contact your Account Manager or our ALIS Customer Success Team.
To create a templated Observation:
Navigate to Resident Settings (or Company Settings) and scroll down to the Observation Types section.
-
Locate the specific observation type you wish to modify and click the Edit button.
Note: You can also click +Add Observation Type to create a new one.
In the pane that opens to the right, toggle 'Prefill Observation with Template?' to Yes.
In the textbox that appears, type the specific prompt(s) or text you want to appear automatically (e.g., "Location of pain: ", "Severity (1-10): ", "Intervention taken: ") for the selected Observation Type.
Click the Update Observation Type (or Create Observation Type) button to save.
When a staff member goes to record a new observation and selects this specific Observation Type, the text you configured will instantly populate in the Observation Summary box, ready for them to complete.
