The Referral Sources section of the ALIS CRM is an address book for your lead-generating contacts and the organizations they belong to. From here, you can add and categorize sources, and create tasks for your sales team to manage outreach.
Access Referral Sources and Organizations
To open the Referral Sources tab:
- Enhanced Navigation (sidebar): Click CRM > expand Pipeline > select Referral Sources.
- Legacy Navigation (top menu): Click the CRM dropdown menu > select Referral Sources.
From the Referral Sources tab, click the Referral Organizations tab to manage organizations.
How Referral Sources are organized
Referral data has three levels:
- Referral Type: The category, such as a hospital or home health agency.
- Referral Organization: A specific organization within that type.
- Referral Source: An individual, lead-generating contact at that organization.
Tip: Set up your Referral Types and Organizations before adding Referral Sources. Consistent categories keep your CRM reports accurate.
Referral Types and Organizations are managed in your CRM Settings or directly from the Referral Organizations tab.
Referral Sources
The Referral Sources tab lists your active and disabled contacts. From here, you can add and edit sources, export contact details with Export to Excel, and create tasks for your sales team.
Add a Referral Source
- Click +Create Referral Source.
- Select a Contact Type. If you need additional types, contact the ALIS Customer Support Team.
- Select the contact’s Referral Organization. If the organization doesn’t exist yet, you can create it here.
- Enter the contact details and save.
Create tasks for a Referral Source
- Single source: Click +Create Task on the referral source’s row.
- Several sources at once: Select them, then click Record Mass Task. See Tasks for Prospects and Referral Sources or steps.
To edit a source’s details, add notes, or create tasks from their profile, click the linked referral source name.
Disable a Referral Source
Click Options next to the referral source’s name and select Disable.
If prospects are still assigned to the source, ALIS shows how many and asks you to choose a replacement source to move them to. Select a source from Migrate to Referral Source and click Migrate and Disable. This keeps every prospect tied to a valid source.
If no prospects are assigned, the source disables as soon as you confirm.
Referral Organizations
The Referral Organizations tab groups your organizations by Referral Type, similar to an address book.
- Add a Referral Type: Click +Create Referral Type. A type is required for every organization.
- View organizations: Click the + next to a type to expand it, or use Expand All and Collapse All toggles.
- Add an organization: Click +Create Organization on the type’s row and enter the contact details.
- Edit or delete: Use Edit on a type or organization, or Delete on an organization.
