If the order is scheduled for the current med shift but in the past, it is possible to add the order to Pass Meds.
- Make sure the start date and time are set to include the first administration.
- There is no way to add administration records to an order prior to the start date and time, and these fields are not editable once an order is processed or created.
- If the start date and time are incorrect, you can clone the order to create a new order with the correct date and time. Delete or discontinue the original order.
- If you process an order from the Pharmacies page, you can add the order to the current med pass shift on Pass Meds.
- If you need to record administrations that took place earlier than the current med shift, administrators can add these records on the Edit MAR page.
Processing an order from your pharmacy
This will allow you to add medications to Pass Meds for the current med pass shift only. If you need to add an order record from a previous shift, read the next section of this article to learn how you can add order records using the Edit MAR page.
If at least one of the order times is scheduled for the current med shift but in the past (for example: it was scheduled one hour before the current time), a pop-up will display when you click Process Order.
- When you click Yes on the pop-up, it suggests that you should log the administration on the Edit MAR page. If you click Ok, nothing will happen. Navigate to the Edit MAR page to add the records.
- When you click No on the pop-up, you will have an additional question whether to add the medication to the current med pass shift. If you click Yes, this will add the order to the Pass Meds page for the current shift for your team to document the outcome there!
Using the Edit MAR page to add administration records
Access the MAR Editor page by clicking the Edit MAR button on your resident's Manage Orders page. This is typically only available to members of your team with a high level of security permissions.
- To add an administration record, find the order you want to change and click the square representing the administration time.
- A pane from the right side of your screen gives you options to update the administration outcome (Passed, Refused, Adverse Reaction, or Other), and you can make updates to the date, time, and dose administered.
- You might have a higher level of access that allows you to change the staff member who administered the order using the "Administered By:" menu.
- Click the Submit button to save any changes.
