ALIS builds each pharmacy order from the details your pharmacy sends. If an order looks wrong, it may just need to be edited in ALIS, or the pharmacy's own record may be wrong and needs a correction from the pharmacy.
When to Correct an Order in ALIS vs. Contact the Pharmacy
Correct it in ALIS when the pharmacy's record is right but the order needs cleanup or extra details, such as:
- ALIS read the order as the wrong type (Routine vs. PRN).
- Administration times don't line up with your med pass shifts.
- The prescriber, diagnosis, or Medication Tags are missing.
- The Product Expiration or Use By date is missing.
Go to Correct an Order Before Processing or Correct an Order After Processing.
Contact the pharmacy when the pharmacy's record is wrong, such as:
- The medication, strength, or dose is incorrect.
- The instructions don't match the prescription.
- The order is an outdated version or was already discontinued.
Go to Correct an Order with the Pharmacy.
Access Pharmacy Orders
Unprocessed orders are on the Incoming Orders tab of the Pharmacies page. Already Processed orders are on the resident's Manage Orders page.
For full details, see Processing Pharmacy Orders Reference Guide and Manage Orders Reference Guide.
Correct an Order Before Processing
Minor corrections are easiest to make before you process the order.
- Click Process on the order from the Incoming Orders tab or the View All Orders page.
- Correct the fields that are wrong, and add any order details the pharmacy can't send via the integration, such as medication tags, vitals checks, or the Product Expiration or Use By dates.
- Click Process Order to save your changes.
Correct an Order After Processing
- Go to the resident's Manage Orders page.
- Click Edit Routine, Edit PRN, or Edit Treatment on the order.
- Correct the fields that are wrong, and add any order details the pharmacy can't send via the integration, such as medication tags, vitals checks, or the Product Expiration or Use By dates.
- Click Update Order.
You can edit everything except the Order Name and Start Date. See How to Edit Medications, PRNs, and Treatments.
Correct an Order with the Pharmacy
For larger order issues, work through these steps in order:
- Contact our ALIS Support Team at support@go-alis.com. We can review the raw data the pharmacy sent to confirm ALIS is displaying it correctly.
- Contact your pharmacy. They may have an older or different version of the order, or the order may have been entered incorrectly. Ask them to send a corrected order.
- When the corrected order arrives, map it to the existing order to avoid a duplicate. See How to Map New Pharmacy Messages to Existing Orders.
- Dismiss the incorrect order from the Incoming Orders tab if it was never processed.
