Med Pass History is a great way to search for a medication administration record and make necessary updates. Most likely you will use this if you made a mistake while recording, or if a resident had an adverse reaction to the order.
By default this feature is available to all peoples who have access to Pass Meds. All changes are audited with the person's name who made the change.
This is a great tool for people who do not have access to the Edit MAR feature, which is typically only available to nurses and administrators. For more information about the Edit MAR, read this article: How to Edit a Resident's MAR.
Finding a Med Pass Record
To get to Med Pass History, find it in the Medications menu at the top of your page in ALIS.
- This page will show you a list of all scheduled orders in the current time frame on Pass Meds sorted to show you the most recent records first. A record in this case refers to an order that was scheduled, whether documented as Passed or with an Exception, or not recorded at all.
-
This list also shows you all PRNs recorded during the filtered time frame.
-
To quickly find a specific record, or one that is not part of the current med pass time frame, use the filters above the list of records. It is likely the most useful filters will be the Resident name, Date, and Med Pass time Frame. Click the Refresh button to apply changes to the filters.
Editing a Med Pass Record
Clicking the pencil icon to the right of the record will allow you to adjust it.
If the order was already documented as Passed or with an Exception, it will display all previous selections. If not passed, the options will be fresh for you to record.
Make necessary changes and click Submit.
To see all changes made to a record, click the arrow/clock icon. View all updates to the record in the right panel of the screen.
This will always show an initial NOT PASSED record to establish the state of the record before it was ever documented (whether done on Pass Meds or in Med Pass History).
Any documentation of the order being Passed or marked with an Exception will display in ascending order.
