ALIS HQ transforms the daily data entered by your care and billing teams into high-level, interactive dashboards. This guide walks through how to access ALIS HQ, navigate between dashboards, filter data, drill down into the underlying records, and set ALIS HQ as your default homepage.
For an overview of what ALIS HQ is, the dashboards available, and how to request additional dashboards, see the ALIS HQ Reference Guide.
Access ALIS HQ
For users with access, you will see an ALIS HQ Dashboard icon on your main ALIS home screen.
ALIS HQ can also be accessed via Reports > ALIS HQ tab.
If you don't see the ALIS HQ button, contact your Company Administrator. For user configuration instructions, refer to this ALIS HQ Settings guide.
Locate Specific Dashboards
ALIS HQ is interactive. Once inside the ALIS HQ module, you'll use the top navigation bars and in-dashboard tools to control your view.
Switch Between Dashboards
Use the Dashboard menu at the top of the screen to switch between different dashboards. The dropdown lists all dashboards enabled for your organization, grouped by category (e.g., Risk Analysis, Occupancy/Census).
For a full catalog of default dashboards and what each one shows, see the ALIS HQ Reference Guide.
Switch Between Communities
Use the Communities menu at the top of the screen to filter the data to all communities, a specific group, or a single community. The list shows every community you have access to in ALIS.
Filter Data
ALIS HQ dashboards offer additional filters at the top to narrow what you see. Common filters include:
Time Range
Most dashboards offer Today, Yesterday, Last 7/30/60/90 days, and longer periods (Weeks, Months, Years).
Some dashboards also offer week-based ranges such as This Week, Last Week, or Last [#] weeks.
Time filters may appear at the top of the dashboard alongside other filters, or directly within specific graphs and charts.
Region / Owner / Community
Filter results to a specific region, ownership group, or community.
Options in these dropdowns are managed in each community's Community Details page.
Resident Status
Certain dashboards allow you filter residents by status, such as active Residents, Applicants, Moved Out, or Transferred Out.
Resident Classification
Further narrow resident data by classifications such as Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Respite Resident.
Resident classifications are configured in Resident Settings.
Payer
Financial dashboards may include a Payer filter to refine reporting by payer type.
Available payer types are configured in Billing Settings.
Category
Many occupancy-related dashboards include a Category filter.
Category refers to the room category configured in your community’s Floor Plan settings (for example: AL, IL, MC, or other room classifications).
⚠️Important: Filters apply only to the dashboard you're currently viewing. Switching to a different dashboard may reset filters or apply that dashboard's defaults.
Drill Down into the Data
ALIS HQ dashboards are interactive. You can click on almost any graph, chart segment, KPI value, table, or widget to reveal the raw data behind it. Drill-down functionality allows you to quickly identify the specific residents, dates, records, or transactions contributing to a result.
This is especially useful when a KPI appears unusually high or low and you need to investigate the details behind the number. It also helps turn dashboard insights into actionable follow-up lists (for example: opening a list of incomplete incident reports to review each item individually).
Common drill-down examples include:
Pie Charts
Click a section of a pie chart to view the residents, records, or data associated with that category.
Bar Charts
Click a bar within a chart to open the underlying records for that data grouping.
KPI Numbers
Click a KPI value to view the detailed records that make up the total count.
Row Details
Click a row within a detail table to open the associated resident profile or record in ALIS.
Expand Data
Many charts, graphs, and tables include an Expand icon (displayed as arrows pointing outward).
Selecting this icon enlarges the report card for easier viewing and analysis as well as individual export.
Export an Entire Dashboard
Most dashboards include export options at the top of the page.
These options allow you to download the full dashboard as a:
- PowerPoint (PPT)
Export an Individual Report Card
When you hover over individual report cards (e.g., charts, graphs, tables), they may also include their own Download or Export icon.
This allows you to export only that specific report section instead of the entire dashboard.
Set ALIS HQ as Your Homepage
You can configure ALIS to launch directly into an HQ Dashboard upon login:
Go to My Account > Login & Access tab.
Change the Homepage setting from 'Dashboard' to 'ALIS HQ'.
Select your preferred Default Report from the dropdown list.
Once you've completed the steps above, you will land directly on ALIS HQ when upon your next login.
For more detailed instructions, refer to this How to set your ALIS Dashboard to an ALIS HQ Report guide.
