ALIS uses two-person verification in specific Drug Count and medication inventory workflows to support accuracy, accountability, and audit readiness.
During Drug Count Final Submission
Two-person verification is always required to complete and submit a Drug Count.
This includes:
- Person 1: The user performing the count
- Person 2: A second staff member acting as witness
Both users must authenticate using their ALIS passwords before the count can be submitted.
During Medication Destruction
Two-person verification is also always required when recording Destroy Medication transactions.
This ensures that medication removal from inventory is reviewed and confirmed by a second staff member before it is saved.
During Refills and Adjustments (Optional Setting)
In some communities, two-person verification is also required for Refill and Adjust transactions. This requirement is determined by community Drug Count Settings configuration.
When enabled:
- A second staff member must review and authenticate the transaction.
- The action must be approved before it is saved in ALIS.
