What happens when I make changes to a resident's Care Plan?

The time at which items are added, edited, or removed from a resident's care plan plays a large role in when that care item will appear on their care plan.

Adding Items to Care Plans

In general, when adding new items to a resident's Care Plan, the items will appear if they were added to a shift that is after the current shift.

Add item(s) to the Care Plan	Next Shift or any Future Shift	Next Shift or any Future Shift
Add item(s) to the Care Plan	Current Shift, later in the shift (future)	The current day's matching Shift
Add item(s) to the Care Plan	Current Shift, earlier in the shift (past)	The next day's matching Shift

Deleting Items from Care Plans

In general, when deleting items from a resident's Care plan, the item will be removed starting on the next shift.

Delete item(s) from the Care Plan	Current Shift, later in the shift (future)	The current day's matching Shift

Editing Items on Care Plans

Action	Shift	Type of Edit	Effect on Care Tracking
Edit item(s) on the Care Plan	Current Shift	Edit from earlier in shift, to later in shift	BOTH items appear. Duplicate item created for later in current shift, and keeps original item.
Edit item(s) on the Care Plan	Current Shift	Edit from later in shift, to earlier in shift	Moves the item to earlier in the shift. No duplication.

When moving resident care items to a different Care List

When editing a Care List and migrating a resident from one list to another list in the same future shift, the result will be that the resident does not appear in the new care list until the next day. For more information, review How to Move Care Items to a Different Care List
