Calendar Settings is where you can manage which calendars exist, who can access them, what event types are available, and what information appears on the Daily Stand-Up Report. This guide outlines how to access and configure each section of Calendar Settings.
Access Calendar Settings
There are two ways to access Calendar Settings:
- From the Calendar Dashboard, click the Settings icon at the top of the calendar.
- From the main navigation, go to Settings → Calendar.
Settings Tab
The Settings tab is where you create community calendars, configure event types, manage user access, and set up the Daily Stand-Up Report. The settings table is divided into two sections:
- Community Calendars: Calendars your community uses to organize events (e.g., Community, Resident, Staff, Activities, Appointments).
- ALIS Calendars: System calendars specific to Resident Birthdays and Staff Birthdays.
Default Community Calendars:
- Community: typically used for community-wide events.
- Resident: typically used for resident appointments.
- Staff: typically used for staff appointments, events, or maintenance.
Create a Community Calendar
- Click +Create Community Calendar.
- In the righthand panel, type the calendar name.
- Select the Calendar Color.
- Determine if the Calendar will be Public or Private.
- Public: All security roles with calendar access in your company will be able to view and manage the calendar based on their existing role permissions.
- Private: You can grant access to specific security roles and/or individual staff members.
- Click Create Calendar to save. The new calendar will appear in the settings table and will be available to select the next time an event is created.
Edit User Access to Calendars
The Calendar Access column in the settings table shows which security roles have access and whether the calendar is set to Public or Private.
- Locate the calendar you want to update.
- Click the Edit button to the right of the calendar.
- Update Access:
- If the calendar is set to Public, security role access is managed through your company's security role configuration. This can only be updated by an ALIS Team member. Contact your Account Manager for assistance.
- If the calendar is set to Private, you can directly configure which security roles and/or staff members have access, and assign each one a permission level (View Events Only, Manage Events, or *Manage Events & Access).
- Click Update Calendar to save.
*Users with Manage Events & Access can change access settings for other users on this calendar.
Create Event Types
Event Types allow you to create templates for events used on Community Calendars. Each event type can have its own icon, a list of calendars it applies to, and optional custom fields.

- Type the Event Type Name.
- Select an Event Type Icon.
- Multi-select which Calendars this event type can apply to.

💡Tip: Use the Edit and Disable buttons on the right side of the Event Types table to update existing event types.
