The ALIS Connect portal allows payers to review invoices and complete payments. They can also add their payment details so that your billing administrator can complete the ACH withdrawals in ALIS.
Communicate clearly with the payer to decide whether your billing team will run the payments or if the payer will process payments themselves.
It is necessary for your onboarding manager to enable ALIS Pay (also known as the Payment Gateway) and ALIS Connect.

Set up payers to use ALIS Connect
- Manage ALIS Connect users in the Access tab of your ALIS Connect Center. This involves sending the payers email invitations to access the portal. Read more details on setting up resident contacts in ALIS Connect here.
- These contacts need a level of ALIS Connect access that allows them to view resident billing details.
- Payers can only pay invoices in ALIS Connect that are addressed to them. If someone wants to pay an invoice that was generated for a different payer, you can change the payer in ALIS when you navigate to Options>Edit for the Invoice.
Notify payers to set up their billing details in ALIS Connect
- Once the payer is logged into ALIS Connect, they can access the Billing section and click +Add Payment Method.
- Here they add their bank account or credit card information along with the relevant billing address. Your billing team will be able to process the payment in the Payment Center in ALIS with these details, or the payer can process their own payment in ALIS Connect.
Residents paying their own bills in ALIS Connect
If the resident is their own payer, they can still pay their bills using ALIS Connect, but first you must add them as a contact on their resident profile. This will allow you to send an ALIS Connect invitation. Follow these steps:
- Go to the resident's profile. In the Contacts section you can click the +Add Contact button, or in the Payers section, click the +Add Payer button. Follow the steps to create a new contact with the Contact Type "Self". Add their email address.
- Follow the same steps to send an invitation for the resident to access ALIS Connect as you would any other payer:
- From your home screen in ALIS, click the Connect Center icon on the right side of the page.
- In the Access tab, you will find your full list of Residents and Applicants. Click the Manage button to the right of the resident's name.
- On the next page, you have a list of all the resident's contacts in ALIS. Select the resident contact you created in step 1!
- Click the Send Invite button for the resident contact. This prompts you to confirm their email address, select the appropriate User Profile, and click the checkbox to confirm their authorization to the resident's information.
- If you ever need to update the email, resend the invitation, reset their password, or disable access, these options will all be available for the contact after sending the initial invitation.
Communicate with the payer! They can pay on their own timeline in ALIS Connect, or you can complete the pulls in ALIS using the info they entered.
