ALIS Connect is a simple way to make important information available to your residents' families.
Once you decide which information you want to make available for your families, all we have to do is pull a few levers in ALIS and test it out for ourselves!
Most of the information updates automatically when you make changes in ALIS. Medication details, evaluations, and invoices are some examples.
The social engagement section is actively managed by your administration, kind of like a social media feed.

User Profiles
First we should set the exact details you want to make available for your family members. It is possible to have as many user profiles as you need to accommodate different types of contacts who need different access. Your onboarding manager can set up this piece for you as well!
- Go to Settings > ALIS Connect Settings (in the Resident card)
- The Communities tab gives the basic option to enable ALIS Connect for the different communities within your organization that use ALIS.
- Click the User Profiles tab to add and manage the profiles.
- Each User Profile needs a name. The easiest way to name these is to describe what they can access: "Family - no medications" or "Family - Billing" are examples. This is how you can easily assign specific family members to the correct User Profiles.

- Click from the Access checkboxes to determine which of the following pieces of information will be visible to your User Profile:
- Evaluations
- Invoices
- Statements
- Medications
- Family Engagement
- Activity Calendar
- Menu Calendar
- You can also decide if you want Email Updates to be available for new posts to Family Engagement, Activity Calendar, or Menu Calendar.
- This is something users themselves can turn on or off if they want to, but only for the options you have checked here.
- These emails prompt the family member to login to ALIS Connect to see the updates.
Family Access
Once you know what access is available in the User Profiles, we can assign the profiles to your family members.
- From your home screen in ALIS, click the Connect Center icon on the right side of the page.
- In the Access tab, you will find your full list of Residents and Applicants. For each resident with a family member who wants access, the task will be to click the Manage button to the right of the resident name.
- On the next page, you have a list of all the resident's contacts in ALIS. If the contact you want to enable for ALIS Connect is not listed, click on the resident's name to go to their Resident Profile, where you can add the contact in the Contacts section.
- For more information about resident contacts, read this article: Resident Contacts Reference Guide
- Click the Send Invite button for the contacts you want to have ALIS Connect access. This prompts you to confirm their email address, select the appropriate User Profile (created in the previous step of this guide), and click the checkbox to confirm their authorization to the resident's information.
- If you ever need to update the email, resend the invitation, reset their password, or disable access, these options will all be available for the contact after sending the initial invitation.
Engagement Posts and Bulletins
The Engagement and Bulletin tabs in the ALIS Connect Center are where you should actively update important or interesting content for your resident families if you have these sections enabled in your User Profiles.
Click Create New Post in the Engagement tab to add content to the Engagement feed. This is a simple way for you to update your families with text posts and photos, and you can toggle visibility if you are not ready to display it.
- You can set your post to display only for specific residents or groups of residents, or set the post to display for the whole Community's list of ALIS Connect users.
The Bulletins tab gives a place for you to upload PDF files of Menu and Activity Calendars for the month. You can set these to expire so that only display for a single month.
Tip: Understandably you may want to preview your ALIS Connect site that your families will see prior to giving them access! Work with your onboarding manager or ALIS Support to set you up with an account to preview this.
