In the Pass Meds page, ALIS uses scheduled times and settings to guide the med passing team. The WAIT, LATE, and OK badges near the medication names and schedule times are there to help med passers decide when they should administer the orders.
All routine medication and treatment orders must include a scheduled time or range.
- By default, those orders with specified times of administration will display as OK to give in ALIS if you are using Pass Meds within an hour before and an hour after this specific time.
- If an order is scheduled more generally during the Med Pass Time Frame, it will display as OK during the entire Time Frame range.
It is important to also understand two settings in Medications Settings that impact these labels:
- Variance Thresholds are a fancy way to describe how long before and after a scheduled order time will the medication be labeled OK. If the current time is outside of the threshold specified in these settings for an order, you will see the WAIT or LATE labels.
- Med Pass Time Frames are the time ranges throughout the day that organize all routine medications and treatment schedules into four parts. Your orders scheduled During Time Frame will only show as OK during the range of the Time Frame.
These four parts are always the following:
- Morning
- Noon
- Evening
- Hour of Sleep
If you need to update any of these settings, they are accessible if you have an administrator Security Role. Contact ALIS Support or your onboarding manager for help updating the settings!
